Georgia & Josh’s Winter Wedding

Our wedding day was just simply amazing, a day that we will never forget.

Our day was filled with amazing memories we will treasure forever, surrounded by our amazing family and friends, and we could not have celebrated it anywhere else other than Upton Barn. Every part was perfect and we couldn’t have done it without their amazing team!

After several postponements due to covid, Georgia and Josh finally tied the knot after the third attempt. Their original wedding date was meant to be July, so they had gone down the route of blush pink bridesmaid dresses and sage green suits for the men. “We had already purchased them by the time we had to postpone the first time. So, then our next date was in May which was fine that would also work, but then December is when we got married. It was a worry whether our colours would look right but it worked just as well, and everyone looked amazing!” Poppy’s Flowers complemented their colour palette with neural flowers, opting for white, ivory and green foliage.

“As soon we saw Upton Barn we fell in love. We received such a warm welcome from the team and we came away thinking we need to book this. We were always looking for a rustic, elegant type venue that also had character, and Upton just ticked all our boxes,” Georgia explains. “From the amazing Stable Barn where we ate, to the Cider Barn and bar area where we could dance the night away, we just loved it. We loved the views and surroundings of Upton as well, so picturesque, and we knew if it was sunny or if it was raining (like it did in our case) it was going to be beautiful and it did not matter. The team at Upton were incredible, they had us under control and guided us in the right direction to what we needed to do and when. They put our minds at ease and leading up to the wedding and the day of we had no worries, we could enjoy our day, and everything was perfect!”

Georgia opted for a bridal up-do, with a classic low bun that was styled with dainty posies and foliage that matched her bouquet. Her make-up was simple and natural with a subtle glow, “I felt like a million dollars on the day.” Her gown was from Kate Walker Bridal, wearing a classic A-line dress with a lace off-the-shoulder design. “It was perfect, and I had a long length veil, which I paired with Rainbow Club heels.”

The couple kept the floral wedding theme the same throughout their entire wedding day. “For the ceremony we had two big arrangements either side of the big doors where we got married and then a long low arrangement on the table which then got moved into the Stable Barn for the top table decoration. We then had apple crates either side of the top of the aisle, filled with little bud vases of flowers and foliage, with gold lanterns dotted around that we lit.” They decorated the Stable Barn with a mixture of low and high table decorations, with candles that offered a warm and welcoming ambience. “Everyone commented on how beautiful it looked, and we were so pleased,” says Georgia.

The gang at the Pickle Shack provided the catering for Georgia and Josh’s winter wedding. “We had a selection of lovely canapés with welcome drinks, then for starters we had fish cake which everyone loved. Then for mains we had a chicken dish with lovely seasonal veg and the most amazing garlic and herb roast potatoes. Then finally the most incredible lemon tart, all foods that we loved!” They spoilt their guests with a selection of pizza in the evening – all of which went down a storm! “It was something that everyone could just help themselves to. We had to have one put back for us to take back to our accommodation to eat at the end of the night, it was the best idea!”

As the evening drew in, the couple’s parents surprised the newlyweds with singing waiters at the end of the speeches. “They were AMAZING! It certainly kicked off the party, they got everyone up and dancing and we have it all on camera to watch and look back on, and just reminisce on how amazing it was. All our guests absolutely loved it too, we had the best time. Singing, dancing and standing on the chairs, it was incredible to see everyone we loved in one room having the best time after so long waiting for the day to happen, it was just the icing on the cake!”

We asked Georgia and Josh for a few words of wisdom for couples who are getting married and here’s what they had to say…

“I would say just enjoy the whole process of organising your big day and enjoy the lead up to it. It is the best day ever, everyone says the day goes quickly but we never imagined it would go SO quickly, it was over in a flash. The prep and the lead up is just as exciting as the day itself, you make so many lovely memories along the way, it just builds up to the day itself. There might be stresses and frustration along the way but trust us it’s all worth it for the most perfect day. Also make sure you get some evening food and cake put back for yourselves to take back with you, trust me you need it!! You don’t eat a lot during the day because you are just so caught up in the moment, so by the end the drinks start to take over and food is needed!”
