No Corkage Option

At Upton Barn & Walled Garden, we offer you the choice to provide your own daytime drinks and will not apply any corkage or service charge. In addition, our Press Bar is available from the minute your guests arrive until midnight providing a wide selection of beverages at “local pub prices”.

What You Need to Know

Carefully selecting drinks to compliment your wedding, individual style and budget are all up to you and can make your wedding totally unique. Once you have made your choices, you simply deliver your chosen drinks to us the day before your wedding for us to chill/store appropriately. Your caterers will then do the rest, leaving you to relax and enjoy your day. Should you have any left over drinks, these will be placed together for you for collection the next day.

The Reception

After your wedding ceremony, guests traditionally gather to congratulate the bride and groom and mingle within the magnificent gardens and grounds enjoying a celebratory drink (and canapés if you so choose) while your photographer works their magic! Champagne is a time-honoured drink to serve during your reception with recent trends such a Prosecco, Pimms and even bottled beers now a popular choice. A warm spiced cocktail is a great alternative for a winter wedding reception. Rather than providing your own reception drinks, you may wish to do something a little different and hire a cocktail van or Prosecco van to serve your drinks instead.  The drinks reception generally lasts about an hour and a half before guests move into the Barn for your Wedding Breakfast.

The Wedding Breakfast

Whilst you and your guests enjoy the delights your caterers have to offer, your choice of drinks can be served at your tables. Typically this tends to be a selection of wine and bottled water and your caterers will ensure a steady flow of these drinks throughout your meal. At the relevant moment your caterers will serve your choice of toast drink (traditionally Champagne) ready for your speeches. Our no corkage option finishes at the end of your Wedding Breakfast, usually when tea and coffee is served.

Of course you can, as long as it is within your no corkage period! Have fun with a ‘Pimp My Prosecco’ stand, have a specialist beer table, a camper van coffee bar, choices are endless, please just ask us.
Should you need any guidance when calculating realistic quantities of alcohol to order, or what works well (and less well) for your Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast we are always happy to help!
We’re often asked how many drinks you should supply, should you decide to take advantage of our no corkage option, we would recommend the following quantities:

  • 2 – 3 Reception Drinks per guest
  • ½ Bottle of Wine per guest during your Wedding Breakfast
  • A Selection of Soft Drinks / Iced water
  • 1 Toast Drink per guest

Our Press Bar will be open throughout your Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast to supply your guests with alternative options.
